ACCOMMODATIONS

Limited residential accommodation is available for persons pursuing the Full-time Bachelor of Education programme. Three Halls of Residence provide accommodations to approximately students. These are:

  • The Wesley Hewling Hall of Residence
  • The Carol Grant Gordon Hall of Residence
  • The Gladys Grey Davis Hall of Residence

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

Students are required to involved in at least 1 community project and 1 Club or Society during their time at the institution. The available clubs are: • Circle K • Environmental Club • 4-H • University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) • Advent Fellowship • Drama • Heritage Club • Girl Guides • Dance • Sign Language • Peer Counselling • College Outreach Marching Band • Music Club • Choir • College Band

GUILD OF STUDENTS

The Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College Guild of Students is the official body which represents the interests of students of the college. It is recognized as the communication bridge between the student body and the management of the college.


SAM SHARPE TEACHERS’ COLLEGE GUILD OF STUDENTS MISSION

To effectively serve and protect the rights of all students of the Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College while stimulating their academic, social, cultural, spiritual and physical development in additional to fostering relations with the wider community.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Acts in the interests of the students and represent them in all matters affecting their interest;
  • Develop a recognized and effective medium of communication between the students and the authorities of the College as well as the national body with legal representative responsibility for the Guild. This national body is referred to as Jamaica Union for Tertiary Student Leaders (J.U.T.S);
  • Provide a variety of services to enhance students’ campus life;
  • Promote positive social interaction and unification of essence, spirit and feeling among students;
  • Facilitates and promote a positive relationship with the students of other Colleges and Institutions;
  • Assist in improving the conditions under which students work while assisting in the advancement of the educational, social, cultural and moral standards of the Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College.
